Ear candles have traditionally been used by the shamen healers. Their historic roots are to be found in Asia and can be tracked back to the Indians of North and South America. The special knowledge of ear candles was brought to contemporary Europe from the Hopi Indians of North East Arizona, the oldest Pueblo tribe.
Ancient wall paintings show the importance of ear candles in rituals, initiation and healing ceremonies. It is widely thought that the candles were also used as a spiritual cleansing treatment by these Indians before entering a trance state or meditation. How the treatment works.

The ear acts as a chimney and the natural movement of the flame creates a vibration of moving air rising through the candle which serves to gently massage the ear drum. This creates a swirling warm current of air and a warm vacuum helps to dry up any moisture and remove blockages within the ear.
